Some People Aren't Happy About SJP's Latest Shoot

by Olivia Muenter

Many of us SATC fans would like to believe that Carrie Bradshaw and Sarah Jessica Parker are one and the same. What? Carrie Bradshaw isn't real? Sometimes it's hard to separate the actress from the character whom we all loved so dearly. Even more difficult? Separating the character/actor from her on-screen SATC West Village apartment. And can you really blame us when SJP is now using the same location on Instagram to promote her line of shoes? It's not only confusing, but apparently not welcome in the New York City neighborhood either. According to reports, Parker didn't have permission for the photo shoot from the owners of the 66 Perry Street apartment made famous by Sex and the City.

As you can imagine, the apartment has become a sort of tourist attraction for die-hard SATC fans visiting the city, much to the frustration of the real-life owners of the apartment. While the owners did allow the use of the outside of the house for Carrie's home on SATC, they've since grown tired of the constant stream of visitors and tourists on their steps. Visit the home these days and you'll be met with a chain across the front of the steps and a sign that reads: "Do NOT go on staircase please."

But when SJP decided to hold a photo shoot for her shoe collection on the same steps, she apparently neither received permission for the photo shoot or obeyed the sign. And according to Page Six, the neighborhood and home owners aren't exactly happy about it.

Not only did the Instagram-posted photos spark absolute panicked chaos among SATC fans all over the Internet (a third movie, anyone?), but the incident has apparently angered neighbors and home owners on Perry Street. According to Gerald Banu, president of the Perry Street Association, the SATC fan problem in the neighborhood is a larger problem than you may think.

"I heard about the shoot. They didn’t get the permission from the owner. The situation with SATC visitors is still very intense. People who live here get upset that the sidewalks are constantly jammed," Banu told Page Six.

Granted, if anyone can bend the rules a little about being on the now off-limits steps, it seems like SJP would be it. But with the whirling rumors about SATC 3 in the air, the media buzz around Carrie/Sarah Jessica is larger than ever. Her every Instagram and tweet is analyzed by fans desperately trying to decipher confirmation of a third movie amongst all the many photos of her shoe line. So no wonder the home owners and neighborhood would be ticked off that SJP was staging photo shoots all the time; it only creates more reason for fans to show up.

SJP "could not be reached for comment," but it's safe to say that it might be a little while before she visits Carrie's old stomping ground for a photo shoot again.
