Long Lasting Makeup That'll Survive The Holidays

Black Friday hours have been slowly encroaching on Thanksgiving hours over the past few years. And with stores like Walmart and Best Buy opening at 6PM this year, eating turkey and buying $1 DVDs are no longer two separate events. At this rate, people will have to start just having Thanksgiving dinner in the grocery aisles of Target. But since the last Thursday and Friday of November have essentially combined into one long day of eating and shopping, there is no longer time to change outfits or makeup between mashed potatoes and discount flat-screen TVs. And since there isn't much time for changing or touching up makeup, it's easier to just tweak your routine to include products that don't require further maintenance anyway.

On average, a full face of makeup with only one or two of these precautions might last around six hours before it starts to fade or melt. But by stacking these safety-measures, by the time the shopping hour rolls around, you'll still be good-to-go. In fact, if you so choose to brave Walmart, other shoppers will probably be so distracted by how good your makeup looks at that hour of the day, that you won't even have to enter a brawl to scoop up that $30 tablet. Here's how to get the most wear out of your makeup.

Use Primers

Use skin type-targeted primers so dry skin stays hydrated and oily skin stays matte, all while helping your foundation last longer throughout the day.

Use an eyeshadow primer to make shadows and liner stay longer on the lids.

Try Long-Wearing Products

Layer Products

For lips: For minimal touch-ups, layer a stain or lipliner under your lipstick. That way, if your lipstick starts to wear away, there will still be some non-budging color underneath. Oh, and skip the gloss. That ish won't last.

For cheeks: Layer a cream highlighter/blush/bronzer under their respective powder counterparts. The color won't wear away as quickly.

For eyes: So your eyeliner won't budge, layer a gel or liquid liner under powder eyeshadow.

Set Everything
