TLC Tease Major Collaborations on New EP

by Christine DiStasio

After almost a decade of silence, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas of TLC are ready for their big comeback and apparently plenty of our favorite artists want in on it. The duo were recently featured on J.Cole's single "Crooked Smile" but are set to return as the beloved TLC with a new album on October 15. The album will include both new songs and rereleases of some of the group's most popular tracks from the past. Just don't call it a "Greatest Hits" album. They're not into that.

It's been 11 years since the car accident that claimed the life of Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, the group's third member, and Chilli and T-Boz haven't recorded with a third group member since ... now. T-Boz told MTV, following the duo's appearance at the VMA's and the announcement of their upcoming Vh1 biopic, that a surprising number of artists have put their names forward to be considered as fill-ins for the late MC on the group's new album.

The biggest named collaborator the ladies have let on about so far? None other than the Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, who co-wrote one of the album's new songs, "Posh Life", with Dallas Austin. The song, which Gaga apparently recorded herself at first, was never released because she felt it sounded too blatantly TLC-like. The duo are excited by the prospect of working with Gaga and the feeling is apparently reciprocated by the multi-platinum artist.

With that being said, here's a few artists we'd like to see on the TLC comeback album.

1. Ellie Goulding

In case you missed her recent cover of JT's "Mirrors", she really can do no wrong when it comes to her own songs or covering others. Goulding could only make their comeback a little bit more magical.

2. Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars is everywhere right now, we love it, and he rocks. He's also pretty much a hit-machine at this point, so why not, guys?

3. Frank Ocean

Another guy who's all over with a voice as smooth as velvet (if you haven't heard his reprise of "Wildfire" on John Mayer's new album, Paradise Valley, you're missing out). A slow jam featuring Frank Ocean? Our vote is yes.

4. Katy Perry

Perry knows her way around an anthem. If T-Boz and Chilli are looking for "No Scrubs" Part II, she could definitely be their girl.

5. Wale

This would just be awesome and he's already collaborated with Gaga before. Serious potential for greatness.
