Benedict Cumberbatch Can't Get Any Cuter Than This

by Tanya Ghahremani

I'm not sure that Benedict Cumberbatch can get any more adorable than this, really. In a new interview, Benedict Cumberbatch explained why he opted for that old-school engagement announcement that ran in The Times earlier this month (which, seriously, was already adorable enough on its own) to tell the world of his engagement to now-fiancée Sophie Hunter — and, of course, his explanation was nothing short of sweet:

"It’s what I would have done if I wasn’t famous. It’s a normal thing to do in my country," Cumberbatch said of the tiny announcement, which ran in London's The Times newspaper and simply stated the news with Cumberbatch and Hunters' names. "I wanted to have some control over the message. I don't Tweet or do social media. It's too impersonal. I would rather do what we did, and have people find it, and not see us from some s***ty, grainy footage staring lovingly into each others eyes with a ring on someone's finger. I wanted it to be ours."

Ugh, as if any of us needed another reason to be obsessed with the guy. That's so sweet, it's almost sickening — and it's not even all! Cumberbatch also gave credit to his fans for making the day even more special, adding: "We're so happy, and we just wanted to let everyone know how happy we are...One of the most incredible things about getting engaged, which we had no idea would be coming back our way, is the amount of love that just comes flooding back. I thought it was just all about us declaring that we were in love and getting married, but actually it's the world going, 'We love you too!' It's amazing. Family, friends, the world...it's amazing."

Fact: Every time you ask yourself whether or not Cumberbatch can get any more adorable, he will always prove that he can.
