The Pope Received a Stylish Christmas Gift

by Erin Mayer

Ever think about what the Pope wears in his off hours? He might be more stylish than you think. According to Complex, Pope Francis was gifted a pair of Diesel jeans for Christmas this year! And you probably assumed he only asked Santa for fresh white robes during the holidays.

According to Complex, on a recent trip to the Vatican, Diesel founder Renzo Rosso gave Pope Francis a pair of pants which The Cut's Veronique Hyland has identified as "a custom pair of Jogg jeans, the label's relaxed-fit, sweatpantlike style," in bright white. Nicola Formichetti, Diesel's artistic director, managed to snap a photo of the hand-off and, lucky for us, posted it to Instagram this weekend. Needless to say, the Pope looked a tad bit bewildered at the offering. To be fair, it's an odd gift for one of the most religious men in the world.

I'm not sure what use Pope Francis has for such cool leg wear, but hey, at least they'll go with his traditional cassock! Since the Pope himself is kind of trending right now — even Chloe Sevigny is a fan — we can't be too surprised that the fashion set wants to pay it forward. It must be pretty dull wearing the same outfit all the time, even if you have devoted your life to the Lord.
