Brights Ruled The Front Row at Valentino

by Rosie Narasaki

I don't know about you, but for me, when I think of Valentino, a very specific aesthetic comes to mind: ultra-feminine lacy brocade with a touch of the medieval about it. That said, there's another side of the coin here: The updated mod look. Take, for example, Emma Stone — she's always wearing sharply collared shift dresses from the brand (to the point where I said she was starting to resemble Madeline)... and it's precisely that look that ruled the front row at Valentino's haute couture show on Wednesday.

Even in the cold New York weather, it looked like everyone and her sister got the memo on the ultra-bright, ultra-mod look and just ran with it. Padma Lakshmi and Olivia Munn even almost matched in two bright orange dresses, while Nicky Hilton wore what might just be the most colorful coat that ever walked the earth (Rainbow Brite much? I kid, I kid). Of course, there were some stars and/or fashion icons that took a different route: Sofia Coppola looked like the height of sophistication in (what else?) black, while Lucky Magazine editor-in-chief Eva Chen totally rocked a Cruella De Vil-esque coat.

With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the best looks of the night.

That collar, though.

Jaime King

An unexpected yet effective color combination, right?

See? They totally match! Whose style are you liking more? Padma's thigh highs are pretty awesome (and she's rocking that super '60s silhouette), but on the other hand Olivia might just be in the possession of the cutest clutch ever (and she is winning the match-y lipstick game).

I was really, really tempted to just caption this, "#WINNING."

Eva Chen

Wow. (Also, let's all add some Doc Martens to our shoe wishlists).

Another amazing collar! So chic it hurts.

Oh, and last but not least:

AHH! It's like a tea party in dress form!
