20 Gifts For People Who Are Hard To Shop For, Because the Holidays Shouldn't Be This Much of a Struggle
Well, here we are, a few days before Christmas, and here you are... still searching for the perfect holiday present for that person in your life who is notoriously hard to shop for. Remember back in November when you were like, "I'm going to get all of my Christmas shopping done early this year?" LOL. But seriously, it's OK. We've all been there, scrambling to find a gift while tearing up at the mere thought of the long lines that await us at the mall.
Sure, you could just go out and buy a Visa gift card for this person, but maybe you want to be a little bit more personal. Whether you're looking for a present for your new boyfriend, your dad, your friend you picked in Secret Santa, your significant other’s mom, or whoever it is that's giving you a problem, you want your present to stand out, not blend in. But, um, how are you supposed to do that when you have no idea what they want?
For starters, check out this list. Most of these gift ideas will work for guys or ladies, and all of them serve a useful purpose as well as being really cool. Be the best gift-giver ever this year with these 20 gift ideas for people who are really hard to shop for.
A Portable Charger
Smartphones are great and super helpful… except when their batteries die and they become useless. Anyone who uses modern technology would appreciate a portable charger for those times of need. This option is particularly great because it has a convenient key ring on it, so you can attach it to your keys and bring it literally everywhere.
Genius Drinking Accessories
Warm beer is the worst, and you’re basically doing a public service by making sure someone’s beer stays cool and crisp. Corkcicle makes some of the coolest drinking accessories ever to ensure that whatever alcohol you’re consuming tastes its best. The Chillsner is a favorite choice — slip it into a bottle of beer, and it keeps it cold until the last drop. If the person you’re giving a gift to isn’t into beer, they also have one for wine.
Corkcicle Chillsner, $30, Amazon
A Portable Bluetooth Speaker
A speaker is useful to anyone who likes music, so, you know, anyone. Speakers that work on Bluetooth technology make the most sense to me because they’re so simple to set up, and you don’t need to carry wires around. This Sol Republic speaker is better than the rest because it allows up to five users at a time. Five people can hook it up via Bluetooth, then take turns playing music. It’s great for groups and parties, and the sound is spectacular. It also comes with a handy cover so you can even take it to the beach. And Amazon has it for an amazing price right now, so what’s stopping you?
Portable Tablet Keyboard
For the person who is always on-the-go, this is a great gift. Apple makes these super handy iPad keyboards, and they’re basically amazing. It could not be more convenient to carry around.
Apple - Smart Keyboard For 9.7 Inch iPad Pro, $144.99, Best Buy
Cool Earbuds or Headphones
Earbuds are one of those things that we all need, but also constantly seem to lose — it’s always helpful to have an extra pair, no matter how many someone already has. Skullcandy makes great earbuds and headphones that work really well and aren’t that expensive. If you’re buying for a female, I highly suggest Skullcandy’s line for women — the Bombshell earbuds fit so comfortably. If you want something more expensive, go for the Knockout headphones, which are the best headphones I’ve ever used.
A Super Warm Blanket
I know what you’re thinking, and it’s probably something along these lines: “Why would I buy someone a blanket? That’s so lame.” Um, because it’s a heated blanket, and it is definitely not lame. If you’ve ever been freezing cold, and then have wrapped yourself in a heated blanket, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
A Fun Cheese Board
Everyone loves cheese, so unless the person you’re gifting is lactose intolerant, this is a perfect present. It’s way better than a regular cheese board because you can use chalk to write on it, which makes it very homey and adorable. To make this gift even bigger and cooler, throw in some actual real cheese from the supermarket.
Monogram Mug
Adding a monogram to anything, no matter how simple it is, always makes a gift seem more meaningful. And yes, this is the mug you’ve seen literally every single fashion blogger post pictures of on Instagram. Doesn’t make it any less cute, though. Plus, it’s $10 right now. $10!!
A Beanie
We all need to stay warm out there, so if you’re really clueless on what to buy someone, choose a versatile beanie that can be worn with anything. Personally, I love the hats from Neff because they’re insanely soft, and can be worn by either guys or girls.
Daily Heather Beanie, $13, Amazon
Tech Gloves
There’s no reason for anyone to subject their fingers to freezing temperatures when tech gloves exist. This is 2014 — get it together! You can find tech gloves anywhere, but I love this pair from The North Face for skiers and snowboarders because they’re so warm.
Etip Glove, $44, Amazon
A Bottle Of Wine and A Fun Wine Glass
This is always my personal go-to option when I have no clue what to buy someone, because who can say no to a good bottle of wine? You can find fun wine glasses anywhere, but I like this sassy option.
XL Wine Glass, $20, Amazon
A Pretty Candle Set
Candles are a universally loved gift that you can give to anyone. Voluspa makes some of my favorite candles because the packaging is gorgeous, and the scents are always lovely.
Cozy Slippers
It’s winter. Come on. We could all use an extra pair of ultra-soft slippers. I like the pairs from UGG Australia because the bottoms are sturdy enough to be worn outside when you’re too lazy to put on real shoes… I mean, um, just running out to grab the mail.
UGG Scuffette II Slippers, $85, UGG
A Movie Ticket Package
Going to the movies is really fun and all, except for the part where you spend half your paycheck on tickets and the necessary snacks that would cost about $10 from 7-Eleven. Give someone a cool date night with a few movie tickets to a theater near them. Make the gift cards a little bit more fun by adding a bucket of popcorn and a few boxes of candy.
A Cute Holding Hands Coffee Mug
Give the gift of relaxation with an adorable mug and a bag of delicious hot chocolate. This Holding Hands Coffee Mug is so cozy and cute you’ll want to keep it for yourself.
A Streaming Device
Everyone could use a little bit more TV and movies in their life, right? The Google Chromecast is one of my favorite gift options because it’s such a genius idea. Plug it into your TV, and stream what you’re watching on your computer. It’s super easy to set up, so even less tech-savvy gift receivers will appreciate it.
Initial Necklace
A cute initial necklace will always be in style. These delicate chains are understated, but still oh-so-pretty, and are great for layering.
Initial Necklace , $38, Baublebar
Gourmet Popcorn
You can’t go wrong with gourmet popcorn, especially when it’s from Maddy and Maize. The birthday cake flavor will actually change your life. Supplies are limited!
A Netflix Subscription
If you really don’t know what you’re doing, go for the Netflix option. Always pick Netflix.
