The Year in Harry Styles, Because 2014 Was Great Year for the Best Member of One Direction
It's hard to believe, but 2014 is just about over. It's been a pretty good year, but my accomplishments — like surviving a year in my crappy apartment and breaking my record for most cheeseburgers eaten in one sitting — pale in comparison to those of my favorite member of One Direction, Harry Styles. Between a tour, an album, and various awkward encounters with ex-girlfriends, 2014 was a hell of a year for Styles. After all, not just anyone can win awards in more than one country. Also, there was that time he threw up on the side of the road, so that happened, too.
Over the past 12 months, Styles' mere existence made the world a better place, so it's only right to honor everything that he achieved this year. Of course, there are still things I'd like to change about what he did in 2014, like grow his hair to ridiculous lengths... and basically every fashion choice he made. But Styles still owns my heart, and there are plenty of things he did that need to be celebrated, especially with a face like that. Sigh.
Here are his 11 most defining moments this year... and maybe we can enter 2015 with the hopes that the man bun doesn't follow us into the new year.
He Took a Bathroom Break When One Direction Won at the Brits
And it was a pretty big deal. The Global Success Award was given to One Direction at the 2014 Brits for the second year in a row, and when the guys got onstage to make their acceptance speech, Harry was inexplicably missing. Um… awkward? “Has anyone seen the curly headed one?” Liam asked to no avail.
Eventually, Harry showed up. His explanation? “I’m really sorry. I was having a wee.” Oh.
He Dated (and Then Stopped Dating) Kendall Jenner
Remember in the beginning of the year when Styles and Kendall Jenner dating was basically all anyone ever talked to? I try to push it out of my mind, because I still have hope that Styles will fall in love with me someday.
He Supported #HeForShe
And if you don’t know what #HeForShe is, you’re desperately late to the party. In a nutshell, it’s Emma Watson’s effort along with the UN to get men on board with the feminist movement, and Styles was quick to support the project… one of the reasons I love him so.

He Had a Man Bun & Other Hair Mistakes
It spent so much time on Styles’ head this year that it absolutely needs to be commemorated, and then instantly removed. Sorry, guys — I realize I’m in the minority. Most people are in love with the man bun. And I support your right to love it. I just do not agree. However, the man bun is not the only crazy hair style that appeared on Styles’ head this year, and… it’s clearly time for a haircut.

He Went on the "Where We Are" Tour
69 cities. Over $290 million in ticket sales. Well done, my boy!
He Said Really Nice Things About Taylor Swift's Album
When 1989 was released, it was obvious that a vast majority of the songs on the album were inspired by Styles — and instead of getting sassy, Styles’ comments about his ex-girlfriend’s music were mature and respectful.
“We always say that we write from personal experience, and I think everyone does, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like, ‘Oh you can’t write songs,’” Styles said. “And she’s really good, so they’re good songs. So I’m really lucky in that sense.”
He Released 'Four'
Another year, another One Direction album… and I’m still listening to “Act My Age” on repeat. Four debuted at number one and was streamed 11.6 million times in its first week. Good job, Styles!
He Met Kate Middleton
And he reassured her that, for a pregnant woman, she didn’t look bumpy. Oh, Harry.
He Awkwardly Ran Into Alleged ex-girlfriends Cara Delevignge & Kendall Jenner

He Won Artist of the Year at the 2014 AMAs
And this time, he managed to save his bathroom break for a way more opportune moment and actually appeared on stage when he was supposed to! We’re making progress!
He Danced on Tables with Kristen Wiig
He and the rest of One Direction were on SNL again, but that is merely a sidenote to the incredible dance he performed with Wiig.
