Stephen Fry is Marrying His Beau

Oy there, Anglophiles! I've got some bloody brilliant news. English comedian/television personality/writer/voice of the Harry Potter audiobooks (!!!) Stephen Fry is engaged to boyfriend Elliott Spencer. I'm guessing their post-wedding brunch will be full of figgy pudding, bangers and mash, and other foods that our friends across the pond enjoy.

The Hobbit actor, 57, and his writer boyfriend Spencer, 27, will marry at a civil office in Fry's hometown of Dereham, Norfolk, and do their best to enjoy an intimate reception of about 40 people. The comedian, known for his role as a presenter on the British quiz show QI, is notorious for keeping his love life private as the BBC reports. Considering that the British papers are already running wild with the story, the kind of privacy Fry hoped for doesn't seem like it's in the proverbial cards.

When The Sun got word of Fry's engagement, the comedian took to Twitter to acknowledge the rumors in a wry style, saying "Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I'm very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!" Welp, at least is seems like he's got a sense of humor about it. Also, nothing wins the world over like a good cat idiom, amirite?

He also tweeted out a gracious thank you to all of his well-wishers.
