Donnie Wahlberg's Career Goes Beyond 'Blue Bloods'

by Lindsey Kupfer

There is a special place in my heart for Donnie Wahlberg and I am not ashamed to admit it. Even though Donnie is married to Jenny McCarthy now, he’s always been my favorite Wahlberg and that’s not normal considering 95 percent of people like Mark better. Now that he is about to embark into the relationship reality world with his new reality show Donnie Loves Jenny, it’s a good time to look back at all the movies and TV shows Donnie Wahlberg has starred in.

Starting this week, we will be able to see Donnie and his wife Jenny McCarthy every week on A&E. Fingers crossed that the relationship reality show curse doesn’t hit them and they can make it work (personally, I believe the curse is all Jessica Simpson’s fault). Let’s just hope that even though they are married now and the show is mainly about them, we still get some Marky Mark appearances, because he’s Mark effing Wahlberg.

Before I go into detail about all of the times you’ve seen Donnie on your TV screen, not including all those VHS tapes New Kids On The Block in concert, you should know that Donnie has also been in so many movies. A lot of movies. So many, in fact, that if I sit around naming them all, you would be reading for hours. That being said, here are some of his biggest and most memorable performances.

Blue Bloods

Donnie is the main character in all 99 episodes of Blue Bloods. He plays a cop and the whole show is featured around his family. Bridget Moynahan and Tom Selleck also star in it with him. It’s been on CBS for five years now, so chances are you've seen an episode.

Saws II - IV

You can see Donnie hanging out with Jigsaw in three of the Saw movies, which he somehow survives every single time, playing Eric Matthews (no, not Eric from Boy Meets World).

Wahlbergers

Wahlbergers is probably my favorite reality show ever (besides The Bachelor, obviously) and if you haven’t seen it, here’s all you need to know: Paul Wahlberg owns a restaurant in Boston. Donnie and Mark frequent said restaurant. They all fight over who momma Wahlberg loves the most. It’s brilliant. Oh, and the real Johnny Drama is in the show too.

The Sixth Sense

A kid can see dead people and the only good thing to come from M. Night Shyamalan. Donnie is in it. Somewhere.

Band of Brothers

In the dramatic HBO miniseries, which won a ton of awards in 2002, Wahlberg plays Carwood Lipton.

Annapolis

After looking at all his roles, I’ve noticed a pattern. He plays a Lieutenant in most of the movies and shows he’s been in and that’s no different with Annapolis . James Franco in uniform? Yes, please!

Guest Roles

You’ve probably seen Donnie in random roles here and there while you binge watch on Netflix. He has guest starred in Boston’s Finest, Rizzoli & Isles, In Plain Sight, Runaway, The Kill Point, and The Practice.
