Taylor and Lena Switched Golden Globes Gowns

by Rosie Narasaki

Taylor Swift and Lena Dunham have kind of an adorable relationship, no? They have sleepovers together; they extol each other's graces via Twitter — heck, Taylor even collaborated on the popular "Out of the Woods" track on her new album with Lena's boyfriend (and debunked-rumored fiancé), and Lena recently gave Taylor what has to be the best birthday present in the history of ever (I will not rest until I someday own an Irene Neuwirth cat pendant of my own). Well, now they've taken things to the next level, fashion-wise — by swapping Golden Globes dresses!

It's a funny coincidence, because I wouldn't necessarily call their styles similar — Taylor's is much more prim and proper (of course), but it's worth noting that they do share a love of cutesy retro frocks. Take for example, the mod, rose-covered Prada and bejeweled Mary Janes she wore to the ELLE Women in Television Celebration — I could totally see that on Taylor; and most of these wintry retro outfits Taylor wore during the promotion of 1989, I could see Lena in... so there is some overlap.

When it comes to the Golden Globes red carpet, it looks like they both kept things simple and primary-colored two years in a row: Last year, Taylor wore streamlined red and black Oscar de la Renta, while Lena wore canary yellow Zac Posen. And this year, Taylor wore yellow Jenny Packham, while Lena wore red Zac Posen (again). It doesn't sound all that remarkable in theory, but the side-by-side says it all:

Kind of uncanny, right?
