21 Photos of Celebs Getting Ready for Award Shows, Because Who Can Resist Them?
The closest look we get into how celebrities get ready for award season is through their Instagram accounts. I'm guilty of following more celebrities on social media during award season (also during NYFW, also just because) to see if they can provide some insider tips on how to get ready, and they do. Although it's just the start of award season, stars like Reese Witherspoon, Diane Kruger and Jennifer Lopez have delivered what a typical day during award season is like. Click through to see how some of your favorite celebrities get ready for the red carpet.

Even stars need friends to tell them if a color is good on their lips. Before she presented an award at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Diane Kruger posted this picture of her lips with the caption, “I’m presenting at the Critics Choice awards tonight! Getting ready for the red carpet…I feel like doing this matte pink lip…what do you think ???#CriticsChoiceAwards#makeup#”
She’s literally the cutest. And yes, she did it right.

Never mind that she basically created an ad for Essie Nail Polish (about a color that I own!!!), but if you look real close, you’ll see that someone is massaging her. Having someone else do your makeup and hair and nails is stressful on a girl, OK?

Lena had her hair braided the night before so it would be curly the next day! This just made my childhood guilty pleasure totally worth it.

I love her because of her love for doughnuts. Witherspoon posted this photo the morning of the Golden Globe Awards Ceremony with the caption, “These are good luck charms, no? #Doughnuts #GGPrep”
Yes, yes they are.

Jennifer Aniston (kind of)
They take selfies! Because why not? This selfie was not courtesy of Jennifer Aniston herself, but from her BFF and hairstylist Chris McMillan. And Jen looks so gorgeous, how could she resist a quick selfie?

Sneak peeks are the worst instagram pre-award show moments. And Giuliana Rancic, as much I love her quick-wit and ability to take a shot alone, I just want to see the full look. Because this looks interesting. Turns out, she wore the cutest tea-length dress to the People’s Choice Awards.

Dessert for breakfast? I’m always down. Jessica Chastain Instagrammed this picture the day of the Golden Globes. She captioned the pic, “My #GoldenGlobe day begins with finding this beautiful dessert in the room #chocolate”
And then she wore the arguable the best dress this season.

Mark Ruffalo's Daughter
This is absolutely adorable. Mark Ruffalo’s daughter, Bella, sent him this selfie the morning of the Golden Globes to wish him good luck. Rufallo ‘grammed the pic just to show his fans how cute and supportive his daughter really is.

Chrissy Teigen, wife to Golden Globe winner John Legend, Instagrammed this picture of her husband and rapper, Common, watching The Ohio State football game right before award show started. Because some things are more important.

Before she made us all cry with her winning speech, Gina Rodriquez posted this photo the morning of the Golden Globes. She has her tickets ready, Dunkin Donuts coffee and is…uh, watching herself on TV? Whatever you gotta do, girl

At least Julia Louis-Dreyfus was honest about how much makeup it takes to get camera ready. Because I’m sure she used all four of those lipsticks. It does look kind of fun, though…

New to the Golden Globes, Allison Tolman thanked her glam team before heading onto the red carpet. This was after the Fargo star posted a selfie of herself in a car on the way to the carpet.

Just one day before the Golden Globes, or start of the official award season, the OITNB star posted this photo of her vacation in Kauai, Hawaii with fellow castemates. I suppose that’s one way to get ready…

Proving that he doesn’t sleep, Ryan Seacrest posted this photo in the wee morning of the Golden Globes. The night before, he just finished taping an episode of American Idol. Turns out, hosts may have more to do to get ready for award season than actual celebrities.

Otherwise known as the girl I envy, Dewan posted this photo of her and Channing’s essentials for the car on the way to the Golden Globes. When you have Channing Tatum sitting next to you, I’m not sure why you need Starbursts…

She may not have been at the Golden Globes, but the Kardashian sister hosted the E! After party and, of course, had to get glammed up using Kardashian products.

Designer Rachel Zoe was not physically at the Golden Globes, but some of her styles were. She decided to stay in and eat cookies with her two sons while watching on TV. And I’m like: she’s like me!

Former Golden Globes host, Ricky Gervais, posted this selfie with the caption ”I think I have successfully managed to be at my fattest and most tired for The #GoldenGlobes.” a day before the award ceremony. Also before we had to question if he was drunk while presenting…

Don’t know her? That’s because she’s not a celeb. Kinsey West is actually one of the magical humans who organizes the Golden Globes. So I think she deserves this little drink before the show.

J Lo actually changed for the Golden Globes afterparty. Because, really, who could dance in that dress?
