This Joshua Radin Song Is Magic

In a TV spot for the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek, a couple goes on a road trip and ages backward. Like ya do. But the couple doesn't turn into a pair of old babies, à la Benjamin Button; by the time the man and the woman have reached their lake destination, they're children. I assume they drank some sort of magical elixir before embarking on their journey. ANYWAY, as the ad goes on, some lovely music plays. You bet I wanted to know what it was. And you bet I Shazam'd it: The song in the Subaru ad is “Beautiful Day” by Joshua Radin, and it can be found on 2013's Wax Wings, the singer-songwriter’s fifth studio album. (And no, listening to it will notturn you into a toddler.)

OK I might be alone in this, but I would be so ticked off if I turned into a kid while I was on a trip. Hi, Mr. ride operator. I see your name is Charles. Can I call you Chuck? I swear I’m normally taller than 48”, Chuck, but I downed a strange potion before I headed to Disney World and now I look like a child. I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth. I don’t know why I did it. I regret it. My regret should be punishment enough. Don’t penalize me even more by not permitting me to go on the Indiana Jones Ride. Just let me go on the Indiana Jones Ride. I won't let the ride [laughs to self] chuck me out of the car, Chuck.
