His New Standup Special Will Stream On Netflix

by Loretta Donelan

Netflix has become a really great place for standup comedy. Encroaching on what was once HBO's territory, it's recently released excellent specials from the likes of Chelsea Peretti, Chelsea Handler, and Nick Offerman. And now it's received exclusive rights to Aziz Ansari's new standup special, entitled Live From Madison Square Garden from his sold-out show.

This is the second standup special of Ansari's that Netflix has produced. Buried Alive was released in 2013, and it showed a more serious side of Ansari's comedy, focusing on adulthood, relationships, and adult relationships. His other two standup specials, Dangerously Delicious and Intimate Moments For A Sensual Evening, are available to stream as well.

Ansari seems like the perfect match for Netflix; he's unashamedly a product of the internet age, with more than a few of his jokes centering on social media, celebrity worship, and dick picks. And it doesn't hurt that the show that made him popular, Parks and Recreation, is streaming on the site as well. Finished binge watching all of Parks and Rec that's on Netflix? More Tom Haverford is just a click away.

Despite a shared love of texting and R&B, Ansari is not his character. His standup is often thoughtful, always playful, and highly relatable. The standup special will be available to stream on Friday, March 6th. For a taste of what's to come, listen to the tale of how he met Kanye West:
