Emma Stone's Clashing Outfit is Perfect

by Sienna Fantozzi

Mixing prints is generally one of those fashion taboo things that you just do not do, but in certain cases, like when you're one of young Hollywood's favorite style icons, it can actually look pretty darn cute. Emma Stone attended the Oscars Nominee Luncheon on Monday, and her clashing patterns were somehow every shade of right. Bring on the mixing and matching.

For the Beverly Hills luncheon, Stone wore a polka dot midi skirt with a horizontal striped long-sleeved sweater, both by Michael Kors. The two bold patterns generally would not be paired together, but for some reason, this look is not only fun and youthful, it's also simultaneously incredibly chic. So she's defying all kinds of boundaries here. The fact that they're both black and white probably helps (not sure this look would work quite as well if contrasting colors were brought into the mix), and minimally accessorizing keeps it from becoming too busy. The Birdman actress wore black Christian Louboutin pumps and no jewelry, accenting the neutral colored ensemble with a pink painted lip.

Emma has been killing this award season. Between her fantastic Lanvin jumpsuit at the Golden Globes and now clashing prints, I couldn't be more excited to see her choice on Oscar night.
