Will ‘The Girl On The Train’ Become A Movie?

by Marenah Dobin

With all of the (well deserved) success and buzz surrounding Paula Hawkin's recently released novel The Girl On The Train, there's been one question on the minds of loyal fans everywhere: Will the book become a hit movie? It's not a farfetched question — after all, Gone Girl was another (quite similarly famous) book that was just turned into a hit film, and there are countless other books that have been nabbed by film studios shortly after their release.

Luckily for them, it looks like that idea might actually become a reality: Turns out, a The Girl On The Train will become a movie — and soon, too! Back in March of 2014, Variety reported that Dreamworks Studios preemptively obtained the right to option the The Girl On The Train into a movie. Even better, Drive producer Marc Platt is already on board to produce the film.

If you haven't yet read The Girl On The Train (you should, immediately), the book has been described as a "Hitchcockian thriller about a young woman who becomes entangled in a murder investigation because of what she witnesses on her daily commute." In short, it's totally addicting, and I totally dare you to just try and not read it cover to cover in one sitting.
