Miley's Latest Project? A Porn Film Festival!
Ever the relentless pusher of societal boundaries, Miley Cyrus is immersing herself in the porn community. FUN! Miley Cyrus has entered a porn film festival in New York City with a surprisingly un-porny movie. Why? Because ART!!!
(Update: According to the New York Daily News, Cyrus' video is no longer being included in the festival. A statement from her reps reads, "Miley was proud to make a film with acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Jones. Neither she nor Quentin are participating in this 'festival' in any way.")
As The New York Post reports, Cyrus has submitted her short film "Tongue Tied," that was released last year for NOWNESS , to the NYC Porn Film Festival. The PornHub-sponsored event will be held in an "experimental art gallery" in Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood on Feb. 27 (MARK YOUR CALENDARS, PEOPLE OF THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA!!!). I'm sure that everyone in attendance will be devastatingly hip and wearing black expensive clothing designed specifically NOT to look expensive. Or, I dunno, locally-sourced bodystockings?
Cyrus' Quentin Jones-directed short film is more of a risqué music video that straddles the line of SFW/ NSFW than an adult film. The video shows Cyrus, mostly clad in underwear and a pair of pasties (a sight that has sort of lost its shock value), doing some BDSM-looking stuff with elastic bands whilst rubbing dark goop all over herself. It's what I would imagine the ad for Mugatu's campaign right after Derelicte would look like, but those tissue-paper eyelashes are kinda cool! And how about those funky animal masks, eh?! Given that Miley's a totes real artist now (with her nightmarish sculptures and moonlighting visual art gig at Art Basel), she doesn't need to define her work for YOU PEDESTRIANS!!
Festival founder Simon Leahy calls Cyrus' submission "a pop take on S&M" and says that Cyrus is "starting to become a contemporary artist." I'm sure the festival has plenty of colorful-sounding categories, but I would guess that the singer's submission falls more into "avant grade erotica." And I'm imagining that's what she was going for.
Meanwhile, former reality TV star and mid-aughts Myspace Queen Tila Tequila's sex tape is also slated to run at the festival, which I'm guessing that Cyrus' video will appear rather PG-13 nest to. But Hey! Everyone is entitled to express themselves to their heart's content!
