New Bobbi Kristina Update Sounds Promising

by Daniela Cabrera

The whirlwind of speculation and disheartening rumors on the condition of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was found unconscious in her bathtub on January 31, continues to grow and get more confusing. On Tuesday, news outlets began reporting that Bobbi Kristina's family had decided to take her off of life support on the three-year anniversary of her mother's death, February 11. Almost immediately, the ever-present "close family sources" came forward to acknowledge the falsehood of such claims and even her father Bobby Brown issued a statement denying various reports. He said,

The false reports that continue to appear in print and on the Internet are egregious, false, and will be dealt with at an appropriate time.... The desire to be first has clouded the judgment of many reporters as they forgo accuracy. We continue to request privacy in this matter.... We thank everyone that supported the vigil for Bobbi Kristina. God is hearing our prayers.

And here is where things get interesting. Although the last few days have been plagued with negative updates, Bobbi Kristina's aunt, Leolah Brown, spoke to Atlanta's Fox 5 TV station, and said candidly that, "Krissi is fine." Although Bobbi Kristina continues to be hooked up on life support, she is apparently well enough to begin opening her eyes, which they all take as a hopeful sign. As she explained,

We know that she’s opening her eyes... That’s true. She’s opening her eyes, and there’s a few more things that she’s doing, but Krissi is doing well right now. She is. There are so many signs showing us she will be okay in spite of what people are saying over the Internet. Krissi is fine, as I sit here before you today.

No matter what the real circumstances are, the family is remaining strong in their faith that she will recover and they are grateful for the support of her fans. On Monday night, the Brown family held a candlelit vigil for Bobbi Kristina outside of Atlanta, where friends, fans, and family offered up prayers throughout the night. A family source shared previously on her condition: "If it were your child, you would do the same thing. Where there is life, there is hope."

The fact remains that Bobbi Kristina is on life support, and "doing better" is very subjective, but a family's hope can never be disregarded. In her interview, Leolah Brown made sure that the public understands the true nature of Bobbi Kristina's situation, saying,

Krissi would never do anything to herself. Everybody in the family knows that. There's no doubt in my mind. Krissi loved life too much.
