Postpartum: The Musical

by Eliza Castile

The company HelloFlo might have started out as a "care package" distributor for your least favorite monthly visitor, but thanks to its frank approach to the subject of menstruation, not to mention its hilarious viral videos like "First Moon Party" and "Camp Gyno," it's become much more. That's why if you're anything like me, you're way too excited about HelloFlo's trailer for "Postpartum: The Musical," especially considering I'm not a new mom, nor do I plan on being one in this lifetime. Does that mean I'm not super stoked to watch a woman singing about how her "boobs are swollen / red and sore" surrounded by interpretive dancers? Hell no. The only problem someone could possibly have with the trailer is that it's over too soon, because a mere 30 seconds of this genius ballad is definitely not enough. The little we hear of the song sounds like a future Tony winner, and if that doesn't immediately have you fantasizing about a legitimate Broadway production of "Postpartum: The Musical," you need to reevaluate your priorities. Not to mention, with brilliant lyrics like "It sucks / I'm trapped," and "my tatas are hard as rocks," I'd say it's a pretty good depiction of new motherhood. As you can imagine, the singer does a lot of gesturing toward her chest.

Although she does get a pretty epic power stance in there.

Also, putting hearts on the dancers' boobs? Pure brilliance.

Oh look, another boob grab. I'm in love with this musical already.

According to Mashable, "Postpartum: The Musical" is set for release on February 25th, and if you're not marking your calendar right now, I don't know what to tell you. I don't know about you guys, but I'm already planning on auditioning for the off-Broadway production.
