Shailene Woodley's Role Cut from Major Movie

by Kaitlin Reilly

Gwen Stacey will remain the only woman in Peter Parker's life... for now.

Shailene Woodley — who has been slated to play Mary Jane, classmate and future love interest of Spider-Man's alter ego, Peter Parker — won't be making her appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel after all. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb made the decision to cut Mary Jane's scenes out of the reboot's sequel. The reason? "I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship.” (Because Gwen might, in fact, die?)

While it sucks that Woodley will be missing out on her time at the iconic comic book character, fear not — with tons of Spiderman sequels coming our way, we have no doubt that Shailene will get her chance to play the part again.
