'Sister Wives' Season 6 Can't Come Soon Enough

by Kayla Hawkins

The fifth "winter season" of Sister Wives is about to finish its abbreviated eight episodes. And when the Browns finish their no-holds-barred tell-all finale episode, we won't be hearing from them for a while. Season 6 of Sister Wives is set to premiere in fall 2015, according to The Wrap. And even though that's only a few months away, it's still sticking fans with a huge cliffhanger. The fifth season brought more challenges for the Brown family than they'd ever seen before. All four matriarchs have always had their individual struggles with children, money, and careers, but now the whole family might be going through some huge changes, and that's what we can look forward to in the sixth season.

The penultimate episode of the season shocked fans when Meri, Kody's first and only legal wife, announced to the rest of the wives that she and Kody were going to get divorced. The shocking decision left the women worried about the structure of their family and their ongoing legal struggles. Polygamy is illegal in many states, and the Browns recently won a lawsuit in their favor stating that the criminalization of polygamy is discriminatory.

Season 6 will see a new side of Meri and Kody's relationship, no longer as legal spouses but still together in a spiritual marriage, like what Kody has with his other wives. Kody is now legally married to his fourth wife, Robyn, the newest to the family. Robyn has three children from a previous marriage, and there's speculation that Kody perhaps married her in order to become legal guardian of those kids.

So there's another thing we may expect to see in the next season of Sister Wives — a wedding! Because the union is both legal and spiritual, I'd be surprised if the Browns didn't have some sort of ceremony. And fans will be fascinated to hear how Meri processes the whole ordeal. Or at least I am — even without actually losing your significant other, a divorce has to be an emotionally charged affair. Meri and Kody have been married for nearly 20 years and their relationship provides the foundation for all the other marriages within the family.

But one of the main reasons the Browns' relationships work at all is because they keep the lines of communication pretty open. They're going to talk through the divorce and any emotional ramifications, and we'll be able to see all of it when Sister Wives returns for Season 6.
