Ryan Phillippe's Awesome Words On Feminism

Gather 'round, because this Secrets and Lies actor is offering up some information about himself that will make many women extremely happy. That's right, Ryan Phillippe is a feminist! The actor, who we all know and love for starring in Cruel Intentions and I Know What You Did Last Summer, revealed his feminist side during a chat with Elle magazine. As great as his declaration is, what makes his statement that much better is that he offered it up without actually being asked if he is a feminist.

Here's how it all went down. The interviewer asked Phillippe if he'd seen the Girls episode where they debate the pronunciation of his last name. He said that he's watched episode, and also revealed he enjoyed it as much as everyone else did. Phillippe said,

I loved it so much. And then, a couple nights later, I was at the Howard Stern birthday party, and Lena Dunham was at my table, and she asked me if I was upset about it. I was like, "What are you talking about? That's the coolest thing." I'm a big supporter. I'm very feminist, man. I was raised by four women, my dad worked the 4 p.m. to midnight shift, so I was basically raised by four women. I'm so pro, pro female. There were some people laughing at Patricia Arquette's statement at the Oscars, but, in the state of California, women make 83 cents on the dollar compared to the man's full dollar. I mean over time, and over bodies, that adds up! It's not equal!

And there you have it! Just another reason Phillippe is still rocking it at 40. Even though he's kind of been off the acting grid as of late, now that he is the lead in ABC's new drama, Secrets and Lies, he's again making a name for himself. If he keeps on supporting women and gender equality, well, Phillippe just might turn himself back into that big star we all loved and couldn't help but swoon over in the '90s.
