Carrie Fisher Thinks 'Star Wars VII' Is Cursed
If you think you're having a bad month, just wait until you hear what the cast of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakensis dealing with. Not only did Harrison Ford end up critically injured after crashing the plane he was flying last Thursday, but now, Carrie Fisher, who's also appearing in the film, has filled the world in on some bad news of her own. On March 1, Carrie Fisher was in a car accident when the steering wheel came off of her BMW while she was driving, and now, she's pretty convinced that the movie is cursed. Not that I blame her — two freak accidents that close together involving stars of the same movie?
According to the Toronto Sun, Fisher told British newspaper Mail on Sunday:
Things happen in threes. I’m about to call (co-star) Mark Hamill to make sure he’s OK. I have a horrid feeling there’s a curse going on here... What is funny is that last Sunday it was raining hard in L.A. I was driving to the art store and I got into an accident. It wasn’t that serious and I wasn’t hurt but it’s the first car accident I’ve ever had. I drove home and that’s when the wheel came off my BMW. My assistant told me I could have died if the wheel had come off when I was on the freeway. Then I was watching the news and saw Harrison had his crash. I’m a bit worried it’s the curse of Star Wars.
Add this to the fact that Ford broke his leg on set while working on the movie over the summer, and I'm inclined to believe Fisher might be on to there being some sort of trend going on with this movie — but she's just looking at it the wrong way. Because to me, all of these things are signs of good luck, not bad luck.
Fisher got into a scary car accident and her wheel came off, but she's OK. Ford crashed his plane and ended up in the hospital, but he's also OK. The universe obviously wants the Star Wars franchise to continue into the next hundred centuries, so there is a shield of protection around anyone who has starred, will star, or is starring in these movies. Some might call it... The Force.
But, um, just in case, maybe we should check on Mark Hamill. You know, just to be safe.
