Get Ready For More Zombies

by Kaitlin Reilly

If you're a diehard Walking Dead fan, then you'll have another zombie-centric show to add to your DVR in 2015 — and it's already guaranteed to stick around for a while. As reported by Deadline on Monday, The Walking Dead companion series has received a two-season order from AMC. That means we're guaranteed two more glorious seasons of walkers, even if these ones are far away from Rick, Daryl, and the rest of the gang.

Only time will tell whether the yet-untitled Walking Dead companion series can capture the gory magic of the original show, but the details do sound promising. The new series will be set in Los Angeles, which will greatly expand the world we were introduced to in The Walking Dead and show the true scope of the epidemic. According to AMC president Charlie Collier: “We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did ‘turn.’ Through this new series, we’re going to find out."

Though the premise of the series is yet to be confirmed by AMC, rumor has it that the show will be a prequel to the original series and explore the early days of the zombie apocalypse. We may not follow the same characters, but what happens on the companion series will inform the audience about some of the significance behind the action on The Walking Dead. This show is already one to watch, and thanks to AMC's two-season order, we'll have plenty of time to do so.
