Kanye West And Fern Mallis Might Talk Fashion Soon

by Rikki Byrd

Kanye West's quest to take over the fashion industry is not only unstoppable, but also widely critiqued. As any fanatic of popular culture or fashion might know by now (or if you simply have a Twitter account), some people aren't too apt to open the pearly gates of fashion to the Grammy-wielding rapper quite yet. But that might be changing soon. This past week New York Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis reportedly expressed interest in having a sit-down on fashion with Kanye West.

Mallis' interest comes on the tails of a Twitter beef between her and the rapper. Shortly after West's New York Fashion Week debut in February, Mallis stated in an interview that she was pretty much over West and his antics. Nevertheless, if you can't beat them, then you must join them, which is what seems to be happening on Mallis' end. After Kanye's emotional response to Mallis on Twitter, he invited her to have a sit-down at his favorite New York restaurant, which she thanked him for, and then did him a better one.

According to Complex, the fashion savant is interested in inviting West to an interview session for her popular "Fashion Icons" series at 92nd Street Y. But if it's going to happen, it needs to happen now, as Mallis reportedly said, "We need to book it, otherwise we need to move on." Because fashion waits for no one.

This news comes on top of an announcement earlier this week that the Yeezy Season 1 collection will be picked up by Barneys and sold both online and at its Madison Avenue location. Despite what the critics say, it appears that Kanye West is staking his claim to fame in the fashion industry, with no signs of stopping anytime soon.
