What Should Jonathan Groff Do After 'Looking'?

by Kelsie Gibson

This year Jonathan Groff has been on a roll with his acting career, but just when he was at the top of his game, one of his main projects got the boot. Even though his hit series, a comedy-drama about a group of gay friends living in San Francisco, was being well-received by critics, HBO has decided to cancel Looking due to poor ratings. With only a two-season run, fans are pretty bummed, but screenwriter and producer, Michael Lannan assured everyone they would still get a proper goodbye. He took to Twitter Wednesday morning saying in place of Season 3, the show will have a special finale — a movie.

While fans are glad they don't have to say goodbye to Jonathan Groff and his amazingness just yet, I can't help but wonder, what will his next project be? Because if I know anything about Jonathan, he has a way of making a comeback. I mean, just this year alone has been full of epics returns: He reprised his role of Kristoff in Disney short, Frozen Fever, he returned to Glee as Jesse St. James,, and he recently took the role of King George in the off-Broadway production of Hamilton.

Since he'll have some free time off now that Looking is ending, I can't help but wonder, what's in store for Jonathan's career?

Make Frozen 2

Okay, so everyone already knows this is happening. Hopefully this time, Disney will give Kristoff more solos, because you can't let that beautiful voice go to waste.

Join the Cast of Scream Queens

Why not make the jump from one show to another? Scream Queens is definitely one of the hottest up and coming shows right now. And he definitely has a way in, being on Ryan Murphy's previous show, Glee, with Lea Michele.

Try Screenwriting

If he doesn't want to get back on screen right away, why not go behind the scenes? Maybe he could take a stab at screenwriting and produce his own TV pilot.

Comeback to Broadway

According to Broadway, Jonathan is expected to reprise his role as King George in Hamilton when it makes it transfer to Broadway this summer, but even if that doesn't work out, Jonathan needs to get back on the stage.

Make a Debut Album

A solo career worked pretty well for his BFF Lea Michele, maybe Jonathan could try the same. It would be interesting to see what style of music he comes up with. I would definitely buy that album!
