Zayn Malik's First Post-One Direction Departure Sighting Is Actually... Kind Of Funny? — PHOTO
It's been a hard day for 1D fans. On Wednesday, Zayn Malik announced that he was quitting One Direction, breaking the hearts of One Direction-obsessed fans everywhere. Malik's reasons for quitting the band were simple — he wants to be a "normal 22-year-old" who can relax outside of the spotlight for a little bit. It's brave move for Malik, who no doubt faced pressure from both his fans and people on the One Direction payroll to stick around, but one he clearly felt it was important for him to make. Now new evidence might explain why: A photo of Malik's first post-One Direction departure sighting seems to imply he was possessed by a demon, proving that it might not have fully been his choice to leave the band after all.
Okay, okay... that's not really a thing. But the first paparazzi shot of Malik after his earth-shattering announcement is pretty funny. There's a serious case of red eye that makes Malik look hilariously terrifying, and his facial expression is one of sheer wide-eyed bewilderment. It's kind of great, and I hope it gives Malik a laugh, which he clearly needs after spending all morning dealing with obnoxious Twitter bullies (ugh).
Check out the photo of Malik below. It's epic.
As previously reported, Malik confirmed his decision to leave One Direction a statement released early Wednesday:
My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.
