When Will 'Going Clear' Be On HBOGo?

by Alexis Rhiannon

A ton of films premiere at the Sundance Film Festival every year, so it can be hard to keep track, but if you're anything like me, there's one in particular that you've been eagerly awaiting for months now. It's a documentary called Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, and it's a film about the cult of Scientology, based on the book Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief by Lawrence Wright. As with anything dealing with the Church of Scientology, the documentary has tremendous buzz across the board, from people who have seen it, reviewed it, or find themselves unfavorably portrayed in it and are scrambling to fight its release. (Hey, I didn't say it was all good buzz, but good luck against the only-slightly-hyperbolic 160-strong team of lawyers that producers had look at the film to protect it from future lawsuits.) So yeah, needless to say, you're probably already wondering when Going Clear will be on HBOGo.

Going Clear is so critical of the organization that at its premiere, random volunteers elected to form a human chain around the film's director, Alex Gibney, and its subjects, mostly high-up former members of the Church who were finally ready to speak out, in order to keep them from harm. And if you were able to read all that and not get super excited in your belly, then good for you, but personally, I've had my eye on it ever since it premiered to record crowds in Utah, and at this point, I don't think I can hold my breath for any longer or be any closer to the edge of my seat.

Which is lucky, because Going Clear will be coming to a screen near me very very soon! It premieres on HBO this Sunday, Mar. 29 at 8:00 p.m., but I think what we're all wondering is when it'll make its way to HBOGo. After all, we don't all live in luxury, strolling through our money tree orchard plucking HBO cable packages off the limbs — some of us rely on the goodwill and HBOGo passwords of our ex-boyfriend's parents. (True story.)

So for those of you in the same position as me, here is the information you seek — Going Clear is a little over 120 minutes long, so it will finish airing on HBO at 10:00 p.m. EST, and should appear on HBOGo shortly thereafter. You're welcome for telling you, just please make yourself available at midnight to discuss with me, because I have a feeling I'm gonna have a whole lot of opinions.

UPDATE: The Church of Scientology has reached out to Bustle, stating: "The accusations made in the film are entirely false and alleged without ever asking the Church."
