Someone, presumably a fusion genius, has tapped our wildest dreams to bring us what may be the greatest booze-focused invention of this side of the millenium: the Minnesota Twins' Hrbek's Pub Bloody Mary topped with a pizza slice. Yes, that is a thing that now exists; and yes, I definitely want it in my mouth. See you at brunch on Sunday.
“Former Minnesota Twins first baseman Kent Hrbek has a restaurant named after him at Target Field, and with the season approaching, Hrbek's Pub is using different items to attract visitors to the bar located behind home plate in the downtown stadium,” writes Bleacher Report. Hrbek’s wife tweeted a photo of the $19 [cocktail?] they’re calling College Daze Bloody Mary — which, not the most ideal name for an alcoholic beverage, but they got the actual drink part right. Here’s the description provided by Grub Street:
This Bloody Mary will bring back the memories (or not)! This cool Bloody Mary gets a cold slice of Pepperoni Pizza which is just what you need with a Bloody Mary! If that wasn't enough you also get all the other fixings! Beef Stick, Pepper Jack and Cheddar Cheese Cubes, Pepperoncini, Olive, Celery, & a Pickle Spear. Served with a Bud Light Beer Back.
It’s served with a Bud Light Beer Back, because of course it is.
Grub Street seems to disagree with the remix of these two favorites, saying, “Grub Street has made this point before, but it apparently bears repeating: Stop messing around with this once-proud drink. After all, when treated with the proper respect, a Bloody Mary can be a truly beautiful thing indeed.” And while I’m generally Bustle’s resident hater of fusion atrocities, I’d like to sidestep this one in favor of boozy pizza. Because boozy pizza. Cheers.
