Are There More 1D Feuds To Come?

by Jaclyn Anglis

Zayn Malik may have quit One Direction on amicable terms, but there is someone who is certainly not on good terms with the band right now — Malik's new record producer, Naughty Boy. Louis Tomlinson began feuding with Naughty Boy on Twitter, after Naughty Boy retweeted a video claiming that he "saved Zaughty" and "Zaughty will rise."

After Naughty Boy retweeted the video on March 30, Tomlinson was quick to respond. Tomlinson said, "Wow @NaughtyBoyMusic you're so inconsiderate pal, seriously how f---ing old are you? Grow up!" In response, Naughty Boy implied that he thought Tomlinson was upset over a tweet he posted back in 2012 that reads, "Louis, what a d**k." So Naughty Boy tweeted, "@Louis_Tomlinson calm down. was talkin bout Louis Walsh cuz he didn't let someone through on X factor. Look @ the date of the tweet." But Tomlinson clarified what he was talking about in another tweet so that there would be no confusion: "@NaughtyBoyMusic I was talking about the video you tweeted. Clearly trying to wind the fans up! Well you succeeded anyway."

It is a shame to see that there is already One Direction related drama brewing so soon after Malik made his exit from the band. Hopefully, this will not lead to bad blood between Malik and the band members who are still part of One Direction.

After all, this feud comes not even a week after Malik made the official announcement that he would be leaving 1D. It is hard to believe that Naughty Boy would be completely oblivious as to how his retweeted video could be taken by the One Direction members. Also, considering Naughty Boy debuted Malik's brand new solo song as part of the feud, the retweeted video does seem like an attempt to engage a response of some sort before the debut. If that's what Naughty Boy was going for, Tomlinson definitely took the bait.

It's a tough situation either way, since One Direction is still currently on tour continuing to perform as a foursome as this drama starts to unfold. The fans likely still have a lot of questions about Malik's departure and what it will mean for the band's future. So this must be causing some level of stress for the band mates still part of the group. It is really not surprising that one of them snapped.

Malik, for his part, has yet to comment on this feud. He did open up about his former band mates' reaction to his departure on March 27: "My band has been really supportive. They've been cool about it. And they understand that, you know, it's not real to me anymore." Hopefully the group is still supportive of him — and vice versa — if this is really what is best for the band. We will have to stay tuned.
