Drake Lyrics That Will Make You Want To Date Him

by Marenah Dobin

Anyone who knows me is aware of my one-sided love affair with Drake. I've been pretty much smitten with him since he was Jimmy Brooks back in the Degrassi: The Next Generation days. And when he dropped the acting and became a rapper, my love for him grew. I could not help wishing that every song was about me. I would even like to be the inspiration for Drake's songs about his exes and that painful heartache. It would be quite an honor to mean enough that I would inspire a breakup ballad.

A lot of the time when I listen to his music, I just wish he was saying those lyrics to me. Line after line, I cannot help thinking, "I wish Drake was my boyfriend." He really gets me. Or at least he could get me if he said these kinds of things.

Everyone loves to hate on Heartbreak Drake for his emotionally charged lyrics, but there's nothing wrong with a rapper who's in touch with his feelings. It gives him a sense of balance. He can be tough when he needs to be and sensitive when it really counts. These lyrics prove that Drake has it what it takes to be your ideal boyfriend.

“Girl I can’t lie — I miss you. You and the music were the only things that I commit to." — "Shot For Me"

Not all things are implied. There are times when I want to hear that someone misses me straight up. Drake seems like the type of boyfriend who would be responsive to texts and initiate conversations. He would probably be free with his "I miss you" texts, and that is always appreciated.

"Baby you my everything, you all I ever wanted. We can do it real big, bigger than you ever done it." — "Best I Ever Had"

No one actually enjoys playing games. Most of us want to know how people feel about us, and if they love us, they should be shouting it from the rooftops — or at least singing about it in a hit song... or five.

“They say real girls ain’t never perfect, perfect girls ain’t never real.” — "Celebration" By Tank Feat. Drake

This lyric gives me hope that his standards are not impossibly high. If anyone is imperfect, it's me. Hello Drake, it's me your soul mate.

“You know life is what we make it, and a chance is like a picture, it’d be nice if you just take it.” — "Unthinkable" By Alicia Keys Feat. Drake

I'm so over boys who are "not ready to commit" and that "who needs labels?" nonsense epitomizes this. Drake is the kind of guy who is willing to put himself out there and make a relationship official.

"Intelligent too, ooh, you my sweetheart. I’ve always liked my women book and street smart." — "Fancy"

Clearly, Drake is not just looking for someone to take Instagram selfies with, and I can stand behind that.

"Sweatpants, hair tied, chilling with no makeup on. That's when you're the prettiest, I hope that you don't take it wrong." — "Best I Ever Had"

These lyrics are classic Drake. It's nice to have someone who appreciates you in your natural habitat: makeup free, wearing sweats, and snacking hard.

"I was thinking about you, you already know." — "Days in the East"

We all love to be thought of without any other agenda. Drake seems like the type of boyfriend who would let you know that and make you feel special.

"She's just a little too perfect. She's just a little too worth it." — "Company"

<img width="724" alt="drake animated GIF " src="http://media.giphy.com/media/zIjsCCMI5aPIc/giphy.gif" height="286" class="article-body-image"/>Drake isn't afraid to let people know how he feels about his girlfriend. He doesn't care if people call him out for having feelings. He says it loud and says it proud. Drake would go beyond calling his girlfriend "perfect." He would make sure the whole world knew how he felt.I could go on and on quoting Drake lyrics, but I think you get my point. He's pretty much perfect, but in that imperfect, vulnerable sort of way. He acknowledges that he has emotions and is not afraid to share them with his lady. And this is why I wish that lady was me.
