Get Excited For 'The Avengers' 3 & 4
So, The Avengers: Age of Ultron isn't even in theaters, and I don't know about you, but I'm already trying to reserve my tickets for the sequels. If Infinity War, the title of the two-part event, didn't tickle your fancy, Marvel has officially confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo are set to direct The Avengers 3 and 4. This is a huge deal!
Rumors of their involvement had been circulating online since Joss Whedon placed doubt on his return after Age of Ultron. He admitted to press that filming two massive Marvel movie installments, plus giving his two cents on the others is a taxing task. He's ready to move onto something else. And if Whedon isn't coming back for the final two Avengers, there's no one else we'd rather have manning the helm than the Russos, who have a ton of experience in the Marvel universe
Remember how incredible Captain America: The Winter Soldier was? Not only did it feature an action-packed storyline on par with the greatest political thrillers, it also changed the entire course of the Marvel movies. Hydra has been hiding in plane sight within S.H.I.E.L.D. this entire time?! I don't think of any of us saw that one coming, and that's in part thanks to the Russos.
These guys are incredible filmmakers. They have been working together for a long time on shows like Arrested Development and Community, and films like You, Me And Dupree and Welcome to Collinwood. Since joining the ranks of the many Marvel directors, they've revolutionized the superhero movie genre.
That may sound pretty sensational, but it's accurate — the Russos are also on board to direct the next Captain America movie. Subtitled Civil War, it will, again, have a major impact on the universe. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) will come to blows over a controversial law that states all super-powered beings must reveal themselves to the government and enlist with S.H.I.E.L.D. It'll be a big affair, as Black Widow, Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Panther and, presumably, the new Spider-Man will make appearances. If that doesn't make you feel like...
...then you might want to get yourself checked out.
With the Russos now directing Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1 and Part 2, they will be able to guide the story they started. Whedon may have been the face of Phases 1 and 2, but this is Phase 3 — and it already sounds like a must-see.
