A 'Seeds Of Yesterday' Star Started In A Boy Band

by Lindsey Kupfer

This Sunday, Lifetime will air another sequel to V.C. Andrews' Flowers in The Attic series. Seeds of Yesterday is the dramatic conclusion to the tale of the Dollanganger family, and it will bring some new faces. While Jason Lewis (Chris) and Rachael Carpani (Cathy) reprise their roles in the upcoming film, their now 25-year-old son Bart is played by James Maslow, a former member of Big Time Rush. If you're not familiar with the boy band that took over Nickelodeon for a few years, I will explain more on that in just a minute. But first, can we take a minute to acknowledge how good-looking Bart grew up to be? Now I'm looking forward to Seeds of Yesterday even more.

In case you missed the last movie in the series, If There Be Thorns, here is a short recap to get you up to speed. Cathy and Chris Dollanganger have raised two boys (both of whom are only Cathy's biological children) and they seem happy, until Corrine moves next door and starts hanging out with their troubled youngest son Bart. Of course, Corrine reveals to Bart that his mom and dad are brother and sister, which leads to Bart totally freaking out. If that's not enough, the butler John Amos then comes in and tries to kill Corrine and Cathy. Spoiler alert: Corrine dies in a fire, and Bart's brother Jory accepts the truth about his parents, while Bart only pretends to be OK…until Seeds of Yesterday, when he basically explodes.

So it's safe to say that Maslow will have a lot to work with in Seeds of Yesterday. Here's everything you need to know about the man behind grown-up Bart.

Big Time Rush

If you’re a bit younger you probably know Big Time Rush, but for everyone else, it was a boy band that was big from 2009-2013. They had a bunch of songs and their own TV show on Nickelodeon until 2013. The role of Bart in Seeds of Yesterday could not be farther from the James we saw in Big Time Rush.

Dancing With The Stars

Maslow appeared on Season 18 of Dancing With The Stars. He was partnered up with Peta Murgatroyd and lasted a pretty long time on the show, but lost to an Olympic Ice Dancer. I mean, how do you compete with that?

iCarly

Before Maslow got his break in Big Time Rush, he was first seen on one episode of iCarly with Miranda Cosgrove, where he played a nerdy guy named Shane.

See Dad Run

Maslow also had a tiny role in another Nickelodeon show called See Dad Run, where he played a character named Ricky Adams for three episodes between 2012-2014.

YouTube Covers

Maslow still sings covers every week over on his YouTube channel, and his talent has definitely remained since his Big Time Rush days.
