Hillary Clinton Officially Changes Her Twitter Bio

by Jenny Hollander

In 2015, it's not official until it's on Twitter, and when Hillary Clinton changed her Twitter bio Sunday afternoon to reflect her run for the presidency, it was like all our Christmases had come at once. Not only did Clinton Tweet twice about her 2016 run — "I'm running for president. Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion. –H" and "I’m hitting the trail to earn your vote. Headed to Iowa. –H" — she also changed her main Twitter photo, Twitter avatar, and bio in conjunction with her announcement.

Before, Clinton's Twitter avatar was the much-loved Texts From Hillary avatar, a black-and-white shot that featured Clinton checking her phone aboard a plane. Clinton chose the photo to represent her on Twitter when she initially joined the site in 2013, hinting that she enjoyed the Texts From Hillary Tumblr exactly as much as everybody else did. Before her announcement Sunday, her Twitter bio read: "Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD..."

The TBD was widely taken to be another hint at her presidential aspirations, proven on Sunday when Clinton changed her bio to: "Wife, mom, grandma, women+kids advocate, FLOTUS, Senator, SecState, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, 2016 presidential candidate. Tweets from Hillary signed –H"

Here's what it looked like on International Women's Day, when Clinton, along with several women's rights champions and organizations, changed her photo to reflect the strides needed to achieve gender equality.

And now!

To think that, until now, it was just another Sunday.
