Watch These Ex-Cops Smoke Weed In Honor Of 420

As marijuana slowly but surely gains cautious acceptance across the country, authorities are appearing to finally understand that smoking weed is not really the be-all-end-all that many have thought it was for decades. This year, the great people at Cut Video put together a video of ex-cops smoking weed in honor of 420, the unofficial holiday for stoners everywhere, for our enjoyment — and it's pretty incredible.

Brought to you by the same people who made that video of grandmothers smoking weed for the first time, this clip (ha ha, get it?) features three former police officers in Washington state — where the recreational use of marijuana is legal — smoking not for the first time, but perhaps the first time in a long time. The video includes sobriety tests, a bong, joints, a game of "Who Am I?" and some serious talk about marijuana legalization.

It's great not only because these guys were former cops, but also because watching non-stoners get stoned can be really funny, sometimes even profound. Here are some of their best quotes, ranging from talking about the first time they smoked, what their opinions are as former police officers, and just about being high in general.

On smoking for the first time

I tried it once, and I'll tell you, I was on a waterbed with a very agreeable woman listening to Rhapsody In Blue, which I know lasts for about 18 minutes and 40 seconds. And it lasted for, ah, hell, two, three hours.

On arresting someone for marijuana possession

As far as I can remember, I never arrested anyone for it. But I took a lot of pot away from people, and threw it away in front of them. And I thought that was a bigger deterrent than actually writing a criminal citation.

On marijuana legalization

I think it should be legal, I think it should be more widely available for medical reasons. It's like the last piece of prohibition.

On marijuana being a gateway drug

If you look at it, everyone who's a heroin addict started out drinking milk. [So you think milk is a gateway drug?] Apparently. I mean that's the argument about marijuana and I'm not sure that's true.

On how being high feels

Kind of what police officers do [is] they're very staunch, they're very in control all the time. This doesn't necessarily allow you to do that.

On whether marijuana made them feel horny

I'm 73 years old. I don't know what the hell you're talking about! It's been so long since I've made love I can't remember who ties up whom.
