Does 'North' Predict North West's Future?

by Kate Ward

I have a secret for you all: I know what's in North West's future. Not because I'm a psychic for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. But because I've seen 1994's North.

And it seems the titular character of the film starring Elijah Wood has much in common with Kardashian and West's newborn baby. For example:

1. They're both named North.

2. They both have really shitty parents.

For those who don't remember the nostalgic '90s movie, Wood stars as an isolated and ignored boy who decides to divorce his career-oriented parents, played by Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (mid-Seinfeld fame). The film is billed as a comedy, but — like everything involving the Kardashians — it's actually quite distressing: North spends a summer attempting to find parents better than his own, but, upon discovering everyone has an angle, decides he's best off settling for those who hardly loved him in the first place.

Career-oriented parents? Children that divorce their self-serving providers? A setting in which everyone has an angle? That sure sounds like an L.A. fueled by Ryan Seacrest Productions. So how accurately will North tell young North West's future? We'll have to see, but we do agree with the movie on one point: North West would be much better off in George Costanza's hands.
