7 Times Blake Wore Prints Better Than Anyone

by Kali Borovic

Blake Lively is the queen of prints. During a recent visit to The Chew, Blake Lively wore a '70s-inspired dress, complete with the type of bright pattern she dons so well. From subtle winter knits to summery hues, Lively can pretty much pull off any print you could think of.

Bringing a '70s flower-child vibe to the city, Lively had heads turning with her Julia Halter Maxi Dress from Lindsey Thornburg. To balance out all the bright colors in the frock, Lively went with edgy, smokey eyeshadow and a pale pink lip.

Less daring people would have let the bold pattern speak for itself, but not our Serena van der Woodsen. She played on the summer-feel of the outfit with gold earrings and an armful of beautifully bold bangles that made a simple look a little more complex. Her mint green Christian Louboutins that playfully tied together her whimsical take on a bold look.

Lively has learned how to bring her own spin on an already great print. From stealing hearts on Gossip Girl to showing the world just how stylish maternity wear can be, she has stepped out with some amazing style. Her ability to add her own personal flair into current trends is what makes Lively stay so spectacular on and off the red carpet.

This isn't the first time Lively's slayed in prints. Let's take a look at some of her best patterned ensembles.

1. She turns subtle prints into bold looks.

Lively left New York starry-eyed as she stepped out in a sheer black bodysuit at the Age of Adaline premiere after-party. She completed the look with a black Monique Lhuillier overcoat and choose to slick back her hair as opposed to her normal natural wavy 'do.

2. She can rock all-over pattern, too.

Continuing her Age of Adaline style at the Meet the Filmmaker's Soho event in early April, she showed through her Valentino dress that her new-mom attitude did not slow down her personal style. She walked into the event in a matching Valentino jacket that brought to life a true all-over patterned look.

3. Her red carpet looks get a little more flair.

In early February, Lively sat front row at the Marchesa show in a black tank top and Marchesa bird-print skirt. She sat next to Anna Wintour at the show in her Chanel coat and Christian Louboutin shoes, making her personally styled prints Wintour-worthy and editor-approved.

4. Even monochromatic style earns her a second glance.

Lively stepped onto the red carpet in a perfectly-printed Michael Kors mini at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards in early June 2014. Taking on a '70s flair with her hair and her bangles, she put together yet another dashing designer look.

5. She never lets the print wear her.

Toning down her patterns for Michael Kors' 2014 runway show in New York, her plunging neckline and nude accents made for the perfect way to tone down her prints. With beautiful accessories, including her at-the-time new engagement ring, she had yet another perfect ensemble.

6. No baby bump can stop her love for patterns.

Lively earned her true fashion stripes by keeping her patterns and Louboutins right by her side throughout her pregnancy. She showed off her gorgeous style as well as her growing belly at the Golden Heart Awards in New York City in October 2014.

Just months before Gossip Girl's finale, Lively stole the red carpet in this gorgeous illusion dress by Zuhair Murad. She played on an old-Hollywood feel for the release of her 2012 movie Savages and showed everyone that her style would not end just because Serena's story was over.
