Coloring Book For Grown-Ups Makes Adulthood Funny

by Kat George

It's important to always acknowledge your inner child. It's always going to be there, and it needs nurturing. Yes, sometimes grown up you will have candy for breakfast, and that's okay. The little guy inside needs it. Which is where POYKPAC's controversial coloring book for grown-ups comes in. Newly leaked images from the book are causing quite a stir with their no-holds-barred satire. The images broach generally considered taboo topics like contraception, depression and sex with an irreverence that takes no prisoners, and to be honest, makes me laugh at some of the "problems" I find myself stressing about.

Created by Ryan Hunter and Taige Jensen, the adult coloring book's byline is: "Two veterans of offbeat Internet humor hilariously combine the mindless fun of children's coloring books with the mind-numbing realities of modern adult life... The artwork resembles that of a children's activity book, while actually offering an ironic look at the stereotypes, habits, and challenges of modern adulthood." I'm sold. Sometimes we need to be able to take a load off and laugh at some of the more serious aspects of adulthood, right? Like potentially turning into a crazy cat lady, single, alone and surrounded by felines. Coloring for Grown-Ups lets you color those kitties every color of the rainbow.

Here are some of the adult scenarios you can color in the book:

1. The way you saw yourself being before reality kicked in and crushed your dreams

2. Ask yourself the classic Brooklynite question, "hipster or homeless?"

3. Navigating life without health insurance

4. The adult alphabet

Other coloring projects apparently include "6 Steps for Compromising Your Integrity and Goals!" and "Color the Potential Terrorists!" It's a much have for any bitter young adult for sure.
