'The Tonight Show' Welcomes Kristen-leesi

by Kadeen Griffiths

Whether you're a fan of Game or Thrones or not, Kristen Wiig is about to become your favorite person. The former Saturday Night Live comedian reminded us all — as if we'd forgotten — that she is one of the funniest people alive when she showed up for an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night. You see, Wiig dressed as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones on The Tonight Show — a.k.a. Daenerys Targaryen a.k.a. Karen. Oh, Targaryen is never called Karen on the show, of course, but, according to Wiig, that is her real name. Yes, it was that kind of interview, enhanced by the fact that neither Wiig nor Fallon could keep a straight face the entire time.

Introducing herself as Karen, and the dragon sitting on her shoulder as Karl, Wiig spoke all about her home in the forest... on the mountain... where she had built a house of dirt and sticks to live in. She affected an English accent — sort of — but frequently forgot to actually use it as she told the audience about her life on that mountain with those dragons. Just like in Game of Thrones, you guys, except, uh. No. Not at all.

But the best was still to come, as Wiig closed off the interview by singing a song that Fallon had written for her called, "Wonderful, Wonderful." Quite honestly, I'm not really sure what I just watched, but as far as promotions for Wiig's upcoming film, Welcome to Me, go, this was certainly memorable and out there. Besides, considering the various states of misery that all the characters of Game of Thrones tend to cycle through from season to season, this was a much-needed break from all the angst and death and destruction. Long live Kristen-leesi!
