If Drinking Buddies sounds familiar to you, it's probably because the film picked up mega-positive buzz at this year's South by Southwest festival. The movie centers on two close friends and brewery co-workers who clearly have feelings for each other, despite being in relationships. At the festival, Magnolia Pictures snagged Drinking Buddies, giving non-festival audiences a chance to see it this summer. Below is the first official trailer, featuring some familiar faces.
The film stars Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick, Ron Livingston, and yes, that is a bearded Jake Johnson, aka Nick Miller from New Girl. Livingston is best known for his role in Office Space, as well as the guy who dumped Carrie with a Post-It on Sex and the City. Even though the trailer seems to reveal a little too much of the plot, Drinking Buddies will likely be this year's best, heartbreakingly real, romantic dramedy. Plus, it should be worth the watch just for such a stellar cast — especially since much of the movie was improvised.
