Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea’s “Pretty Girls" Alleged Snippet Will Have You Counting Down The Days Until This Song’s Release — LISTEN
New “Pretty Girls” clip! New "Pretty Girls" clip! Get it while it’s hot! We’re only a few days away from Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea’s collaboration making its official debut, but the wait has been gnaaaaawiiiing at me. Britney is forever my number 1, and yes, it is safe to assume I'm DYIN' to hear this new song. Until it is released, I'll keep doing what I've been doing: gobble up any and all sneak peeks of the to-be-released track. Friday, Instagram user @raphaeldelarie shared an alleged snippet of “Pretty Girls” (h/t to Bustle’s own Alex Kritselis for forwarding it my way). And the 13-second snippet is, to quote another Brit Brit collab, a bangerz, bangerz, bangerz.
(It sounds exactly like the other "Pretty Girls" snippets making their way around the web, so I'm inclined to believe it is a real-deal preview of the song. How @raphaeldelarie got ahold of this especially clear clip is beyond me, but hey, no complaints here.)
After listening to the short video a dozen times in a row, something dawned on me: It reminds me of a bunch of songs I like. Before you accuse me of committing blasphemy against Godney, I want to make it clear that I don’t mean any of this in a snarky, “this is derivative copycat trash” way. I mean all of it as a compliment. I come from a place of love.
So, what does this alleged sliver of "Pretty Girls" remind me of?
Two tablespoons of Lady Sovereign's cover of Sex Pistols song "Pretty Vacant"
Three cups of "Le Disko" by Shiny Toy Guns
A pinch of "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani
And a hint of "Boys" by Britney Spears
And voilà! This clip is born:
Ugh. Can't wait to put the entire song in my ears.
