New 'GMO-Free' Label Approved By Agriculture Department

by Rachel Krantz

The USDA approved a new, unprecedented label for food Friday: 'GMO-Free.'

The Agriculture Department will be outsourcing the responsibility for labeling to the Non-GMO Project, which will certify foods as 'GMO-Free' if they came "from animals that never ate feed containing genetically engineered ingredients like corn, soy and alfalfa."

Great news for increasing food production transparency. Now maybe if they could do something about this?
