If you're a lady who wants to get married, how will you break the news to your family? Don't lie: You've thought about it. Of all the things you need to know before you get engaged, understanding how your family fits into your engagement process is a bigger deal than you think. Will they be there when you get engaged? Or will you send them a stunning engagement photo with a text that says, "Surprise"? Better make sure that whatever it is, it's clear enough that you don't end up like this mother who doesn't realize her daughter is engaged.
If you've ever thought your mother was oblivious, this video has the potential to change your perspective. Why? Because this mother is missing one of her daughter's biggest milestones, even though it's under her nose as her daughter literally waves the ring in her face. To her credit, when she finally does realize that her daughter's engaged, she reacts appropriately. And by that, I mean she loses what little chill she had and it's hilarious.
I think the moral of the story here is when you get engaged, JUST SAY SO instead of just waving your hand in front of your mother. Because if you use the latter route, you'll end up with a very tired hand and a delayed reaction.
If I ever get married, I don't want to deal with the chore of announcing it to everyone (the excited bride thing will apparently be lost on me). I want whoever's doing the proposing to tell my whole family beforehand, so that I'm appropriately surprised. What? Does it get any better than a well-executed surprise?
Anyway, this vid is from America's Funniest Home Videos. I honestly didn't realize they were still doing things, but they're now back on the map of my heart with this video:
If you, like me, are now fondly recalling watching AFV with your family 10 years ago, here are a few other hilarious videos from their channel:
1. Pregnancy surprise during a mother-daughter picture
If you tune the mother out for long enough, you can catch the dad saying "Mazel Tov," which is easily the best part of this video.
2. Father Mode: Activate
This dad. What a hero. Not gonna lie, it didn't look like he'd actually be able to run that fast, but he was really able to kick it into high gear to save his kid. Bless.
3. Kids at the zoo are so cute and kind of sad at the same time
I have no idea what these children are doing, and they make me kind of nervous, but they're pretty damn cute so I'll let it slide.
4. This baby is a future litigator and it's too good for all of our eyes
And the family's insanely chill dog could not care less. His expression is a metaphor for how I generally feel about Tuesdays.
5. Guys, this panda really needs help scratching its butt
You know you want to send a gif of this panda's swaying butt to your coworkers. Don't fight that feeling.
