Scoot over, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid! Dree Hemingway is the new face of Chloe fragrance. Her ad campaign will bow in September and she joins a list of elite Chloe Eau de Parfum models, like Clemence Poésy, Chloe Sevigny, Anja Rubik, and Suvi Koponen. That's some good company right there. Hemingway's star is ascending and she's popping up all over, giving the aforementioned models a run(way) for their money.
The brand selected Hemingway, who is a classical trained Shakespearean actress, since she is the physical embodiment of what Chloe is all about: modern, feminine, free-spirited, and independent, in addition to being blessed with a natural and elegant beauty.
The actress and model, who strutted her stuff on a Chloe runway in March, is way stoked about this gig repping the 7-year-old scent, saying in a press release, "I am very honored to be the new face of Chloe. It is a brand that has been part of my life for a long time; it brings up a lot of memories for me. I am looking forward to continuing my story with Chloé into the world of fragrance."
Hemingway, who is 27 and yes, a member of that Hemingway family, as the great-granddaughter of author Ernest, has become a fixture lately, with film roles in While We're Young and Listen Up Philip.
In addition to her stunning gifts, here are the five main reasons Hemingway could further nip at Jenner and Hadid's stilettos.
1. Good Genes
I don't mean looks. Kids with good, famous genes are the preferred grist for the gossip and celeb media mill. It feeds the cycle, as sad as that is. Given the Hemingway dynasty's drama, the public loves to see how the kids either stumble, fall, or succeed.
2. Well, She Is Beautiful
Hemingway is not a traditional head-turner. Instead, she has this earthy, real girl, and natural prettiness that makes her appealing. She is boho without even trying and could totally be a member of Haim, who have their own unique sister rock band style.
3. There's Always Room At The Inn
Where is this rule book that says there is room for only two supermodels of the new generation? Jenner and Hadid, neither of which is 21, aren't able to take all of the gigs. There is enough work to go around and THIS JUST IN! Some brands will want to branch out and not use the same 21-and-under models as the competition. That keeps fashion exciting.
4. She's Got Some Edge And Other Career Goals
There is no denying that the current crop of supermodels, including Cara Delevingne, are gorgeous. But Hemingway has an added dose of edge. She's not quite so perfectly primped, which I like. Plus, she is dually pursuing her acting career, making her a fully realized modern woman.
5. She Is So Boho
Whether it's the bedhead or the flowing dress in this image, she so effortlessly embodies the new boho chic.
