Skye Saw Jiaying's True Nature On 'S.H.I.E.L.D.'

The war between Inhumans and S.H.I.E.L.D. has taken its first casualty. What should have been a peaceful moment in the compound Afterlife turned dire when Jiaying killed Raina in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season finale. Raina confronted the sinister leader, and was stabbed in the neck. Luckily, this means Skye probably won't side with the Inhumans. She witnessed the attack and was pretty miffed after discovering her mother's real agenda.

To quote a certain speedster from Avengers: Age of Ultron, you didn't see that coming, Raina? What's the point of seeing the future if you can't prevent your own death? Raina's speech talked about becoming an angel like her grandmother predicted. However, I'm pretty sure that's not what she meant. She wanted to be a herald, and to warn everyone about Jiaying's twisted, war-mongering leadership.

However, Raina did assure Skye that she was going to help her and that they would never speak again. Perhaps Raina was placing herself in the line of fire for the greater good.

This wasn't even the weirdest thing that Jiaying did in the episode. To heal from the wounds she self-inflicted to justify her assassination of Robert Gonzales, she also absorbed the life-force of an innocent, like a fairytale witch.

I have to say, I'm disappointed to see Raina go. She has been a misunderstood character since she showed up in Season 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Everyone pinned her as a villainous manipulator, but she never seemed that bad to me. In the past few episodes, she really was trying to protect her own people. I'll miss certainly miss the Girl in the Flower Dress, but at least she can be remembered as a hero.
