6 Songs That Are Perfect For A Meester-Brody Kid
Any teenager growing up in the '00s knows a little about The O.C and Gossip Girl. These shows followed the lives of young adults as they dealt with popularity, relationships, family, and everything in between, and they brought a whole lot of drama. Fans of both shows were ecstatic when news broke that Leighton Meester and Adam Brody were dating and when they eventually tied the knot in a secret ceremony. Now, reportedly, Leighton Meester is pregnant with their first child, and it is about to be a very exciting time in the actors' lives. Because I am a huge music fan — and know that Meester and Brody are too — the best way I know how to celebrate this news is with a killer playlist.
Along with being an actor, Brody has played drums for a few bands, including The Shortcoats, and Meester impressed critics with her second album, Heart Strings, which she released last year. We also cannot forget Meester's beautiful cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," which really showed fans her talent.
Seeing as both of these actors and their characters, Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen, were such huge music fans, I decided to throw together a few songs from the The O.C. and Gossip Girl's soundtracks that I would love to imagine Meester and Brody dedicating to their new little one or using for his or her lullabies. Hey, it's a little nostalgia for us and for them, too.
1. "Maybe, I'm Amazed" By Jem
This is a super sweet cover of Paul McCartney's hit, which appeared during the scene of Julie and Caleb's marriage in the first season of The O.C.
2. "Forever Young" By Youth Group
I'm sure once you've got your little one in your arms, you wish they would stay that young forever.
3. "Cosmic Love" By Florence And The Machine
The lyrics might be talking about the stars and moon "blowing out" and leaving her "in the dark," but that's only because her love is so out of this world. I get you, Florence.
4. "Walnut Tree" By Keane
This song appeared on the second season of The O.C., and the repeated lyrics "I've waiting a long, long time..." are perfect for a new bundle of joy.
5. "All Of My Days" By Alexi Murdoch
The guitar. The lyrics. Everything. Meester would do this song absolute justice and put any human being to sleep. The lines, "Now I see clearly/ It's you I'm looking for/ All of my days/ Soon I'll smile/ I know I'll feel this loneliness no more," couldn't be anymore fitting.
6. "You've Got The Love" By Florence And The Machine
All of the feelings come back with this one from the finale of Gossip Girl. No doubt that it would stir up some emotions for a new mom and dad.
