The Red Lip Trend at Cannes Is Perfect For Summer

by Lindsey Rose Black

Red lips scream classic glamour, but this beauty staple got a handful of fresh summery updates from celebrities at Cannes. According to Vogue, red lips were everwhere at Cannes Film Festival. The mag scouted out four hot French beauties rocking hot new ways to do red lips, proving this color deserves its unshakeable status as the ultimate sexy pout choice. If you've shied away from red in the past, summer is the time to round up your confidence and try it out!

At the Carol premiere, Aymeline Valade sported a floral, refreshing Hibiscus red, while Jeanne Damas went for a subdued velvety approach. Also dawning red on the red carpet were Natasha Poly in a fierce crimson, and Charlotte Casiraghi in a romantic shade with deep mauve undertones.

Beyond Cannes, red lips have recently garnered quite a bit of attention in general. This past April was Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and many chose to dawn red pouts in support of Red My Lips, a non-profit committed to educating the world about sexual violence. There's also plenty of new red lip inspiration out there, and even emotional support because, sometimes, the ruby pout struggle is just too real.

If you're ready to pop some summer cherry happiness onto your lips, I've snooped around for the four shades from Cannes. I also added a goth-chic purple red, because it's awesome and you need to know about it.
