Tom's Deposition Papers Leaked

by Lindsay Mannering

Until Suri Cruise writes a tell-all, details about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' divorce will be few and far between. Was the whole thing as arranged as we all assumed it was? Was Holmes really, truly brainwashed? And what about those lifts he allegedly wore at the wedding? Fortunately for those interested in learning what really went down, there's a new peek behind the curtain. Since Cruise filed a $50 million lawsuit against Life & Style for printing reports that he abandoned daughter Suri after splitting from Holmes, he must be deposed, and would you lookie here: Cruises's deposition transcripts have been leaked. And would you doubly lookie here: they reveal that Cruise thinks Holmes left him to protect Suri from Scientology.

Boom. Truth bomb, dropped.

TMZ got a copy of the transcripts and fair warning: you'll feel a little dirty after looking at them. It's like watching an awkward sex scene play out on TV with your parents in the room: you definitely don't want to look away, but OH GOD MAKE IT STOP.

This glimpse behind the curtain is certainly illuminating and makes us want to know everything there is to know about their split.

But when the lawyer asks if Holmes left him to protect Suri from Scientology, Cruise responded: "That was one of the assertions, yes."

Stuff just got real.

It's all fun and games to joke about the "cult" of Scientology that worships aliens, but damn, the truth behind the matter could easily be stranger than fiction. And as much as Cruise was trying to defend his name in this lawsuit, it looks like the whole thing might backfire as more and more personal details are leaked. The fact that he even mentioned Scientology as a cause for his divorce, and the fact that he was okay with the phrase "protect from" as it applied to his daughter and his religion is pretty astonishing. It's almost a little eerie.

As far as the real reason behind the Cruise-Holmes divorce goes, we'll let Jack handle this one:
