11 Celebrity Couples Who Met In Weird Ways, Including One Pair Who Met Through A Search Engine

You might think celebrities have access to everything — and everyone — they want at all times of the day. But the truth is, some had to work extremely hard to hook up with their better halves. Some celebs resorted to using strange pick-up lines, while others got their crushes jobs or waited decades to hook up. Hey, whatever works, right? Here's a look at 11 celebrity couples whose fairytale beginnings had more in common with Princess Anna and Kristoff than Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake

You’d think these two would be so confident they’d meet at a club and hook up on night one, but Justin Timberlake says the exact opposite happened when he was courting Jessica Biel. He actually asked a friend to call her on the phone first and find out if it was OK with her if he called to ask her out — have you ever heard of anything so awesomely ’90s? Only after she gave her consent did he make that phone call that eventually led to marriage and becoming parents to Silas, the cutest little baby boy alive.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes is a talented lady who can make it on her own. But it didn’t hurt that Ryan Gosling believed in her so much that he asked Derek Cianfrance, the director of Place Beyond the Pines, if he could cast her in the film. Cianfrance recalled a conversation with the actor while speaking to Moviefone.com in which he said, "You should meet with Eva because she’s great, I think she’s got a lot to offer than maybe people haven’t seen, which would be great." The rest was movie history. They fell in love while filming and are now married and parents to a baby girl named Esmeralda Amada.

Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford

The Great Gatsby ’s Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons knew each other when they were just children growing up in England. They were pen pals for awhile, grew apart for a few years, and then reconnected in 2011 and didn’t waste any time — they were married in 2012. Mulligan announced in April that she and Mumford are expecting their first child.

Kate Moss and Jamie Hince

Supermodel Kate Moss was at a friend’s house "Googling men" when she came upon a photo of musician Jamie Hince and thought he was good looking. Her friend immediately hooked them up and Hince showed up at the house in the South of France where Kate was staying (like, pronto). They spent four thrilling days together, she offered him a bacon sandwich, and managed to turn him from strict vegan to meat eater — because she’s Kate Moss and of course she can do that.

Rita Ora and Calvin Harris

Before DJ Calvin Harris got hot and heavy with Taylor Swift, he and Rita Ora were a couple with a passionate history. They met through Twitter or, more accurately, by tweeting nasty things about each other. Ora claims she turned down a chance to sing on a song produced by Harris and he was obviously not thrilled by the public diss. They managed to get past it and enjoy a few quality months together before they broke up in histrionic fashion — rumor has it Harris was livid after finding out Ora and Justin Bieber were extremely flirtatious while working together in a recording studio.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Need I say it? Angelina Jolie has admitted to falling in love with Brad Pitt on the set of their 2005 film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith — while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. In an interview with Vogue, the actress said, "I didn’t know much about exactly where Brad was in his personal life. But it was clear he was with his best friend, someone he loves and respects. And so we were both living, I suppose, very full lives." It’s anybody’s guess when and where, exactly, they finally hooked up and I’ll leave my best theory to myself.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas

Given Michael Douglas’ bizarre-o pick-up line when he met Catherine Zeta-Jones at the premiere of her film, The Mask of Zorro, it’s a miracle they had a first date. The actor approached her and said, "I want to father your children." Who knows, maybe he’s some kind of psychic because the couple have been married for 15 years and have two children.

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey

Vanessa Minnillo was cast to star alongside Nick Lachey in a music video for a song he wrote about his breakup with ex-wife Jessica Simpson. But it doesn’t sound like there was a single tear was shed while filming "What’s Left of Me." The VJ admitted to having a crush on Lachey and the two are now married with two children: Camden John and Brooklyn Elisabeth, who was born in January.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady

Who on Earth doesn’t know who either Gisele Bündchen or Tom Brady are? Apparently, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady. The couple was set up on a blind date by friends who insisted they were each other’s twins (and they certainly look enough alike). Shortly after Brady broke up with Bridget Moynahan (who was pregnant with their child at the time), the supermodel and quarterback agreed to meet for dinner in New York City and are now married with three children of their own.

Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso

While filming Stuck on You in Miami in 2003, Matt Damon’s friends had to drag him out to party — which turned out to be a great thing because his future wife Luciana Barroso just happened to be bartending that night. They were married two years later, Damon adopted her 15-year-old daughter Alexia, and the couple now have three daughters of their own.

Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne

I saved the best for last. When Sharon Osbourne was 18, she worked for her father, who managed Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne’s band at the time. One of her duties was to collect a business debt from Ozzy, whom her dad was just minutes away from firing because of his drinking. Instead of throwing him away, Sharon got him the help he needed and became his manager.
