Caitlyn Jenner Beat Kanye's Twitter Record

by Emily Lackey

It hasn't even been a full day since Caitlyn Jenner joined Twitter, and already the star has gained more followers than Kanye West did in his first day. And, here I was, thinking West made the Kardashians more famous when he married into the family. Psh. On Monday, it's the other way around. Caitlyn Jenner is the biggest name in the Jenner/Kardashian household (even bigger than Kim Kardashian West's second baby), and her Twitter feed proves it.

In her first hour on Twitter, Jenner gained over 300,000 followers. In fact, Jenner's followers are flocking so furiously to her handle that it's hard to keep track of how many she has. Refresh the page just a second after viewing it, and the number of followers grows by tens of thousands. Compared to West's measly 200,000 followers in a day, Jenner is proving herself to be the true star of this family.

And what does she have to say for herself in her first tweet? It's a picture of her Vanity Fair cover, of course, followed up by a message of love, hope, and acceptance. I think we can all understand why she earned more followers with that tweet than West did with his first tweet, which included the misspelling of the world "silicon."

Some other big names that Jenner's following completely annihilated?

1. Oprah Winfrey

Oprah-freakin'-Winfrey, y'all! The TV mogul earned 130,000 followers in her first 24 hours on Twitter, which pales in comparison to Jenner's. Pretty sure Caitlyn Jenner got that many followers in her first 24 minutes.

2. Michelle Obama

Caitlyn earned a faster following than the first lady. FLOTUS earned 200,000 followers in her first 24 hours on Twitter. Considering that Jenner says that she's not a fan of the Obamas and leans more to the right politically, she must be pretty proud of that.

3. The Pope

Not even the leader of the world's second largest religious sect can keep up with Caitlyn Jenner. He earned 300,000 followers in his first day on Twitter, a number that looks puny from the distance by which Caitlyn has him beat. It must be all of those years of Olympic training.

We'll have to see where Jenner's number lands at the end of her first day on Twitter (and whether or not she can beat Charlie Sheen's 900,000 followers in one day), but something tells me she's going to do it. After all, the number of Caitlyn Jenner followers has already blown up in the time it took me to write this.
